올해에도 구글은 광복절을... :)



광복절이다. 어느 분의 포스트 제목을 보고 구글을 가봤더니 역시나! 멋지다! (그런데, 독도가 빠져있다...)

구글의 이런 위트 있는 로고의 변형을 통한 기념일 기념하기(?)는 정말 멋진 것 같다. 멋지며, 유쾌하고, 그로 인해 거부감없이 자연스레 충성도도 높아진다.

우리나라 포탈들은 무엇을 하고 있을까? 네이버, 다음 모두 메인 페이지에 광복절에 대해 1글자도 써 있지 않았다. 몇십장의 이미지와 몇 백개의 단어에도 광복절을 찾아볼 순 없었다. (내가 찾지 못한걸까?)

메인페이지에 고작 41개의 단어(세봤다. 심심해서)와 단 하나의 이미지로 이런 인상을 심어주는 구글이 때로는 무서워진다. :P

여담으로, 별 상관 없는 얘기긴 하지만.. Purple Cow(보랏빛 소가 온다)에서 구글에 메일을 보내오던 한 사용자에 대한 글이 있다.

Marissa Mayer, Director of Consumer Web Products, Google : "그 사람은 이메일을 보낼 때마다 단지 두 자리의 숫자만 적어 보냈어요. 그 사람이 무얼 하고 있는지 우리가 알아차리기까진 시간이 좀 걸렷죠. 그는 우리 홈페이지의 단어 수를 세고 있었던 거예요. 그 숫자가 올라가면, 예를 들어 52까지요. 그는 짜증이 났었나봐요. 그래서 단어 수가 바뀔 때마다 이메일을 보냈던 거예요. 이상하게 들릴지 모르지만, 그 사람의 이메일은 많은 도움이 됐어요. 왜냐면 우리 UI팀에 흥미로운 규율을 준 셈이니까요. 너무 많은 링크를 새로 걸지 않도록 말이예요. 그건 마치 살이 2파운드 더 쪗을 때 그걸 얘기해주는 체중계 같은 것이었어요" (야후!의 홈페이지에는 현재 500개가 넘는 단어가 있다.)


우리나라 포탈들을 보면 마치 환락가의 밤거리를 보는 기분이 든다. 모두들 화려한 네온사인 간판으로 자기들을 돋보이려 하지만, 다들 너무 화려하기에 아무것도 눈에 들어오지 않는다.

예전에 google에 디자이너는 단 한명이고, 한국인라는 글을 읽었다. (아직도 1명인지는 모르겠다)
